The first golf course in Mysore was formed in 1905, by the king of
Mysore, The Late Maharaja Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in Chamundi Hills,
Mysore. This golf course is known to have one of the toughest paths of holes that
include a total of 18 holes. This formed a base for the formation of
many golf courses in India later. The sport has gone beyond the gender discrimination and is today enjoyed both by men and women. In the recent times, a good number of golf
courses in India have popped up with many of them resting on the land of Mysore; and equal number of golf enthusiasts coming up to be a part of them.

Jayachamaraja Wodeyar Golf Club
This golf course is nestled in the foothills of the famous Chamundi hills this course is located in a 110 acre area. The course was named after Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, and this was mainly used by British men to play golf in early days. The late maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar chose its location carefully by himself. Even though the racing was present since 1891, it is only after getting the location shifted to the present one, golf was given a new beginning in Mysore.
The course is a standard 18 hole, 70 par courses. The fairways are improving every year and are tight. The most challenging part is the opening two holes the first being a par-4 and which is approximately of 400 yards whereas the second is a par-3 and of 210 yards. The course is out of bounds .This course was modified in 1996 by Pacific Coast Design Company of Australia, which enabled it to get modernized according to the present day. Skytop Golf Village
